SUMMARY:Gilmore Ponds Metropark Big Day
DESCRIPTION:Gilmore Ponds MetroPark- Intro to Big Day Birding\nPush your skills. Build your list. Maximize the day. \nThis Big Day of Birding at Gilmore Ponds MetroPark is designed specifically for intermediate and advanced birders ready to move with purpose. The goal is simple: see and identify as many species as possible in a single day. This is an introduction to Big Day style birding that will last roughly 5 hours. \nGilmore Ponds is one of Butler County’s most productive birding locations\, offering a rich mix of wetlands\, open water\, grasslands\, and wooded edges. On a strong migration day\, this habitat diversity can produce impressive species totals (+75 species) — from waterfowl and waders to shorebirds\, raptors\, and waves of passerines (songbirds). \nExpect a fast-paced\, focused outing with plenty of discussion around subtle field marks\, flight calls\, distant silhouettes\, and tricky comparisons. This is a collaborative\, high-energy day built for birders who want to sharpen their field skills while pushing their species total. \nWhat to bring: binoculars\, camera\, field guide or app\, water\, snacks\, weather-appropriate footwear\, sunscreen\, and bug spray.Pace: Moderate (mostly flat terrain)Goal: Big numbers. Better skills. Great birds. \nLet’s see what Butler County can produce in a single day\, rain or shine. \nDisclosure: must complete waiver prior to attending event. Participants who do not agree to the waiver will not be permitted to participate. foxcbirding waiver

SUMMARY:Northwest Ohio Spring Migration- Day 1
DESCRIPTION:Overview: Day 1Known as the “Warbler Capital of the World\,” Magee Marsh Wildlife Area along the shores of Lake Erie—offers one of the most exciting spring bird migration experiences in North America. \nWith a mix of woodlots\, marshes\, and open fields\, this region concentrates an incredible diversity of birds\, including Neotropical migrants\, raptors\, shorebirds\, and lingering waterfowl. Timed for peak migration\, this trip offers the chance to observe up to 25 species of warblers\, along with vireos\, thrushes\, and flycatchers—often at remarkably close range. \nWhile both mornings begin at Magee Marsh\, we will also explore Ottawa National Wildlife Refuge\, Metzger Marsh Wildlife Area\, Howard Marsh Metropark\, Mallard Club Marsh Wildlife Area\, Maumee Bay State Park\, and\, time permitting\, Oak Openings Preserve Metropark—maximizing habitat diversity and birding opportunities throughout the region. \nAttached is an advanced itinerary. This trip is limited to 8-10 participants to enhance our experience. \nThis trip includes two full days of guiding 5/22 & 5/23 so registrants will need to sign up for each day seperately. \nThis trip is a drive yourself and find own lodgings trip. There are many places to stay in nearby Port Clinton to the east and Toledo to the list. Our Guest Inn and Suites in Port Clinton is a place I have personally stayed many times. There are many food options and we will stop locally for lunches. \nWaiver must be filled out before attending. \nMagee Marsh Guide Trip Itinerary \nfoxcbirding waiver \n
