Join FoxC Birding for an introduction to spring migration at Bowyer Farm, a great birding location not open ot the general public owned by The Cincinnati Zoo. This guided walk is designed to help birders build confidence, sharpen identification skills, and experience the excitement of spring as migratory species return to the region.

What to Expect

Spring migration is one of the most active and rewarding times to be in the field. We’ll explore a mix of habitats including wetlands, woodlots, and open areas in search of:

• Migrating warblers, vireos, and flycatchers

• Resident species in breeding activity

Along the way, we’ll focus on:

• Bird identification by sight and sound

• Recognizing behavior and habitat clues

• Practical techniques to help you find birds more consistently

This guided outing offers participants the opportunity to explore the natural beauty of all the effort of increasing native habitat and wetland restoration on the property while observing a variety of local and migratory bird species in their natural habitat.

Whether you’re an experienced birder or just getting started, this walk is designed to be welcoming and informative for all skill levels. Along the way, we’ll discuss bird identification, behavior, and habitat, as well as share tips for spotting and listening for birds in the field.

The walk will take place during the morning hours, when bird activity is typically at its peak.

What to bring: binoculars, camera, field guide or app, water, weather-appropriate footwear, sunscreen, and bug spray.
Pace: Moderate (mostly flat terrain)
